Western Rallies Against Georgia Southern

Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina (9-7-2) women's soccer team scored its game winner at the 93:35 mark to defeat Southern Conference opponent Georgia Southern (13-4, 5-3) at Charles W. Schrader Field, Friday afternoon.

Sophomore Morgan Foresman recorded her fourth goal of the season at 93:35 when a cross from Kelly Barker deflected off a Georgia Southern defender and Foresman sent the ball into the back of the net.

Georgia Southern's Andrea Pfeiffer scored the lone goal for her team when a deflected shot off the top of the goal post found her. At 66:42 a foul in the penalty box set up Western to tie the game at one. Sophomore Nardia Moore took the penalty kick to mark her ninth goal of the season and forcing the overtime.

"That was the best win in the programs history and I am very proud of how the girls played today," stated Head Coach Debbie Hensley.

Western Carolina outshot Southern 13-8, while goalkeeper Mandi Tinsley recorded five saves for the Lady Cats and Tanya Woehr recorded six for the Eagles.

Western Carolina will host College of Charleston for the last regular season match, Sunday, October 22. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
