Western Carolina Compliance Office Mission Statement

The WCU Department of Athletics is committed to compliance with all NCAA, Southern Conference, and Western Carolina University rules and regulations. It is of great importance and part of our Strategic Plan that we create a culture of compliance within the Western Carolina family to align ourselves with all NCAA rules.

Maintaining "institutional control" is our goal and we are fully aware that this must be a shared responsibility between our staff, coaches, student-athletes, and supporters across the country. Maintaining institutional control involves four initiatives:

    1.      Creating and maintaining a culture of compliance;
    2.     Creating and following sound policies and procedures;
    3.     Education of all our student-athletes, coaches, staff and supporters; and
    4.    Monitoring.

Here are three general rules that, if followed, will help keep Western Carolina safe:

    1.    Don't give anything of value to student-athletes, their parents, relatives of friends;
    2.   Don't give anything of value to a recruit, their parents, relatives of friends;
    3.    Don't be involved in the recruiting process.

If you ever find yourself in a situation that you are not sure how to handle, #AskBeforeYouAct.
