Women's Soccer Topped Appalachian State 3-2

Boone, NC - The Western Carolina women's soccer team handed a 3-2 loss to Southern Conference opponent Appalachian State Friday night at Kidd Brewer Stadium. The Lady Catamounts (7-5-1, 1-4) were led offensively by freshman Jordan Howell who scored both the Catamount goals against the Mountaineers (4-7-1, 1-3).

The first score of the evening came from Western's Nardia Moore at 10:13 into the match. The Catamounts put another point on the board at 16:25 when Jordan Howell launched a long, high shot that sailed over the head of Appalachian keeper Kristen McNeill). The Mountaineers were able to get onto the board at 30:10 as forward Prescott was able to slip one past the Catamount goalie off an assist from fellow senior Shelley Brooks.

In the second half it was Howell who added Western1s third goal at 46:36.

Prescott blew by the goalie to net her second goal of the match at 61:11. The Mountaineers endeavored to add another point at the end of the second period, but as time ran out it was the Catamounts who were victorious, by a score of 3-2.

Western goalkeeper Mandi Tinsley stopped four shots in the match, and Appalachian goalie McNeill saved one.
