Catamounts record Three Double-Doubles

Cullowhee, N.C. - Head Coach Steve Shurina and the Catamounts closed out their exhibition season with a 107-91 win over the Synthalabo Sharks, Saturday afternoon in the Ramsey Center.

After being tied at 45 going into halftime, the Cats outscored Synthalabo 29-12 in the first 10 minutes of play in the second half. WCU would extend its lead to 26 with 6:28 remaining in the game.

Junior forward Willie Freeman led the Catamounts with 35 points. Freeman also added 11 rebounds, eight of which were defensive rebounds. He was one of two Catamounts to record double-doubles. Junior point guard Casey Rogers had 16 points and 13 assists.

Freshman Rans Brempong also recorded a double-double of his own with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Recording double figures were juniors Casey Rogers and Cory Largent with 16 and 11 points respectively. Also in double figures was senior Corey Wells with 15.

Western Carolina Men's basketball team will open up the Steve Shurina era next Friday in the America's Youth Classic in Nashville, Tenn against St. Joesph's. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m.
