GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Louis Ivory rushed for 187 yards and three
touchdowns to lead Furman to a 38-14 win over Western Carolina in a Southern
Conference matchup Saturday.
Ivory scored on runs of 65 and 25 yards in the first quarter and Danny
Marshall kicked a 24-yard field goal in the second to give the Paladins a 17-7
lead at the half.
Western Carolina (2-3, 1-2) got on the scoreboard when Fred Boateng got a
14-yard touchdown run with 2:25 left in the half.
But Ivory and Bear Rinehart each scored on runs of 14 yards in the third
quarter for the NCAA I-AA sixth-ranked Paladins (5-0, 2-0) to put them up 31-7.
Furman's Toreico O'Neal scored on an 11-yard run at the top of the
fourth quarter.
Western Carolina answered with a touchdown when David Rivers connected a 5-yard pass
with Tracy Biggs for the game.
