GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Karim Souchu scored 20 points to lead Furman to a
67-47 win against Western Carolina in Southern Conference action Monday.
Furman (8-10, 3-6 Southern Conference) put the game away with a late 20-2
run.
Kenny Zeigler scored 14 and Guilherme Da Luz added 12 points, including the
go-ahead basket with nine minutes left in the game. Da Luz also had 11 rebounds
and seven assists.
Willie Freeman scored 14 points and Casey Rogers had 11 for the Catamounts
(4-18, 2-7).
Furman led 27-25 at halftime.
The Catamounts regained the lead 35-34 on two free throws by Freeman. They
took their last lead 38-36 on Rickey Gandy's 3-pointer at 10:09 left in the
game.
Da Luz's 3-pointer with nine minutes left put the Paladins ahead 39-38 and
started a 9-2 run that ended on Souchu's 3-pointer at 6:45 mark.
Western Carolina trailed 47-45 after Freeman's baseline jumper at 4:40.
Anthony Thomas' back-to-back 3-pointers started a run of 13-straight for the
Paladins.
Cory Largent, Western Carolina's scoring leader averaging 16 points a game,
hit just 3-of-14 for seven points. The Catamounts had 20 turnovers.
