Davidson Downs Catamounts, 69-63

DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) - Wayne Bernard scored nine points during a 14-0 Davidson run that lifted the Wildcats to a 69-63 win over Western Carolina on Monday.

Western Carolina (4-22, 2-11) took a 29-28 lead into halftime and led by four with 5:16 left in the game before Davidson (11-15, 5-8) reeled off 14 straight points.

Bernard led the Wildcats with 16 points, and was 10-of-10 from the free throw line. Eight of his 10 free throws came in the final 5:05 to help seal the win.

Chris Pearson scored 14 points for Davidson, while Martine Ides had 13 and Peter Anderer added 11.

Cory Largent led the Catamounts with 17 points, Kori Hatcher had 15 and Will Freeman added 12.
