Women's Soccer Shutout Charleston Southern, 3-0

Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina women's soccer team remains undefeated as they shutout Charleston Southern 3-0, Monday afternoon at Schrader Field.

Sophomore Lauren Bramlett scored the first goal of the game at the 15:00 minute mark off the cross from junior Nardia Moore. Less than three minutes later, Moore passed the ball to sophomore Jordan Howell who found sophomore Felicia Wilson as she marked her first goal of the season at the 17:49 mark. Moore contributed again in the second half at 55:23 for her second goal of the season off the cross from Wilson. Moore now leads the team in goals (two) and points (six).

Western Carolina outshot Charleston Southern 26-9 recording 13 in each half. Goalkeeper Mandi Tinsley marked five saves in 61:16 minutes. Sophomore Tina Weaver relieved Tinsley for the remaining 28:44 minutes. Charleston Southern did not make a shot on goal during that time.

Forward Jennifer Strukel led the Buccaneers with three shots while midfielder Elizabeth Uczekaj recorded two. Goalkeeper Susan Anderson made six saves allowing all three Catamount goals.

"We did a better job of finishing our chances today," said Head Coach Debbie Hensley. "We need to improve on our focus for 90 minutes. This is a nice win to carry us into Wednesday's matchup of our crosstown rival UNC Asheville.

WCU will enter the match against Asheville with a 2-0 record. The two teams kickoff Wednesday, September 5 at UNC Asheville, game time is 4:00 p.m. Charleston Southern drops to 0-1-1 overall.
