Oct. 27, 2002

Final Stats

Charleston, S.C. - The Western Carolina women's soccer team shut out The Citadel, 5-0, in Charleston Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Catamounts improve to 9-5-2 (6-1-2 SoCon). The Citadel falls to 4-10-2 (0-10 SoCon).

The first half was marked by three Catamount goals in the first nine minutes. Nardia Moore, Emily Pierce and Lauren Bramlett tallied those shots with teammate Felicia Wilson kicking in a fourth goal at the 31-minute mark.

In the second half, the Bulldogs came out fighting harder and defending their half of the field. Despite the Bulldogs' efforts, it was at the 69-minute mark that Wilson scored the fifth and final Catamount goal. Western's defense also controlled the game by only allowing one shot by Citadel freshman Julie Austin.

Western proceeds to Chattanooga on October 30 for their final conference match. Match time has been changed to a 5 pm start. The Citadel will travel to Dover, DE to compete against Delaware State on November 1.
