Cullowhee N.C. - Western Carolina's women's tennis team lost 7-0 to UT Chattanooga Thursday, March 21 at the Reid Gym Courts in Cullowhee, N.C. The Catamounts now stand at 5-6 (0-3 SoCon) for the season, and the Lady Mocs improve to 7-8 (4-0).
Western fell to UTC in all three doubles matches, 8-0, 9-8 (5), 8-6. Kristin Munn and Emmy King sent their match into extra games, but lost to Bethany Everett and Charlotte Goude after the tie breaker, 9-8 (5). In singles play, the Lady Cats fared the same fate. Munn, King, Shelby Fitzpatrick, and Shannon Zalinski all fell in straight sets. Erin Johnson, down one set, came back to force the tie breaker in the second set, but lost, 6-1, 6-7 (3). Kristin Cotton fought hard in the last match of the day, sending it into a third set, but falling to Laura Henry in the final set, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
The Lady Catamounts travel to Atlanta next to take on Georgia State on Friday, March 22 at 1:30 pm. They face UNC Greensboro at home on Sunday at 1:00 pm to round off the weekend.
