WCU's Women's Tennis Team Falls to Georgia State, 5-2

Atlanta, Ga. - Western Carolina's women's tennis team lost 5-2 to Georgia State in Atlanta this afternoon, March 22. The Catamounts are now 5-6 (0-3 SoCon) and GSU improves to 8-9 (3-2 Atlantic Sun).

Shannon Zalinski fell behind early against Nina Jansen 0-6, but came out with the victory as she fought back to win the final two sets 6-4, 6-2. Kristin Munn, Shelby Fitzpatrick, and Erin Johnson all lost in straight sets. Karine Etienne defeated Emmy King 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 in a third set marathon. Number six player, Kristin Cotton, won her match by default. There were just two doubles matches for the day. Zalinski/Fitzpatrick and Munn/King fell in doubles play.

The Lady Catamounts return to action Sunday facing UNC Greensboro in Greensboro at 1:00 pm.
