Greensboro, N.C. - The Western Carolina women's tennis team lost in a 7-0 shutout Sunday to UNC Greensboro at the UNCG Tennis Courts. The Lady Catamounts fall to 5-7 (0-4 SoCon) for the season, while the Spartans improve to 4-7 (2-3 SoCon).
In doubles play, WCU lost each of its three matches to UNCG, giving the Spartans the 1-0 edge. Shelby Fitzpatrick and Shannon Zalinski fell to Sonnia Orellana and Lindsey Peel, 8-1. Emmy King and Kristin Munn lost to Kate LaCoste and Kristen Adamson, 8-3. And in the three spot, Kristin Cotton and Erin Johnson fell to Amanda Eutzler and Carlin Kannan, 8-1.
In singles play, the Lady Cats dropped all six matches to the Spartans in straight sets to give UNCG the sweep. This was the Catamounts' fourth conference loss of the season, but they hope to improve that record as they host Davidson this Tuesday, March 26 at 3:00 pm at the Reid Gym Courts.
