Box Score Spartanburg, S.C. - The Western Carolina women's tennis team lost to the Wofford University Lady Terriers, 7-0, in Spartanburg, S.C. The rain presented a significant obstacle to the match, as delays caused the 1 p.m. match to take nearly eight hours.

In doubles action, the Catamounts lost all three matches, two of which were close ones. In the top spot Shelby Fitzpatrick and Shannon Zalinski fell to Wendy Rohr and Lauren Marie Whisenhunt, 8-3. Emmy King and Kristin Cotton lost a tough one to Meghan Turner and Mary Wallace DeBerry, 9-7. The number three seed team of Kristin Munn and Erin Johnson lost in another tight one to Kristine Banks and Erin Hantske, 9-8. In singles play, the Lady terriers completed the sweep taking all six matches in straight sets.

The final home match of the regular season against UNC Asheville scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) at 2:00 has been cancelled due to a schedule conflict. The Lady Cats now prepare for the Southern Conference Tournament, which begins on Thursday, April 18, and runs through Saturday.
