Clemson S.C. - Western Carolina's Natasha Moore scored a goal in the second half to help the Cats' cause, but Western couldn't quite overcome the deficit as Tennessee defeated WCU, 3-1, in their first match of the Clemson Invitational Friday night. With the win, Tennessee improves its record to 4-1 overall, while Western falls to 2-2 this season. Tennessee is currently ranked 16th by Soccer America.
All of Tennessee's goals were scored in the first 29 minutes of play. Kim Patrick scored at the 7:04 mark with assists by Jen Laughridge and Lyndsey Patterson. She scored again at the 15:19 mark with an assist by Laughridge. Laughridge scored at the 28:23 point in the game with assists by Rhian Wilkinson and Kayla Lockaby.
Western Carolina got on the board at the 57:59 mark as Moore scored her fourth goal of the year with an assist by Kelly Barker. Catamount keeper Mandi Tinsley recorded 17 saves in the match.
On Sunday, Western Carolina faces Butler at 12:30 pm and Clemson will play Tennessee at 2:30 p.m.
