Lady Catamounts Tie Davidson,1-1, in Double Overtime in SoCon Soccer Action

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson freshman Kara Koehrn scored on a penalty kick to send the women's soccer match into overtime Sunday afternoon. After playing two overtime periods, in which neither the Catamounts nor the Wildcats could score, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

The game remained scoreless until the second half when WCU's Natasha Moore placed the ball into the net past sophomore goalie Sarah Hobart, to give the Catamounts the 1-0 lead. The goal marked Moore's fifth of the season. Freshman Megan Chambers and junior Felicia Wilson were credited with the assist.

With just under nine minutes remaining in the game, the Wildcats were awarded a penalty kick off a Western Carolina foul. Koerhn made the penalty kick to even the score.

Both teams played very aggressive in the two overtime periods, but neither team could come up with a goal. Catamount goalie, Mandi Tinsley, made eight saves in the match, while Hobart added five to her credit. Tinsley now has 64 saves on the season.

With the tie, the Catamounts move to 4-2-2 (2-0-2 SoCon), while the Wildcats sit at 4-5-1 (3-0-1 SoCon).

The women's soccer team travels to our nation's capitol next to take on Howard and Delaware State in the Howard University Tournament Oct. 5th and 6th at 2 pm and 11 am respectively.
