Cullowhee, N.C. - The Wofford Terriers claimed all three doubles matches to win the first point of the day and won five of six singles matches to defeat Western Carolina 6-1 Saturday in Southern Conference women's tennis action. The Catamounts are now 5-9 overall and 0-6 in the SoCon, while Wofford improves to 9-4, 4-2.
Terrier duo Wendy Rohr and Ellen Rogers shut out WCU's Rocio Perez and Erin Johnson as did the Wofford tandem of Kristen Bowman and Lauren Marie Whisenhunt over Catamounts Katie VanEwyk and Elysa Montgomery. Kristin Cotton and Kristin Munn pulled out one game in their doubles match, but fell 8-1 to Delaine Hare and Tara Hartness.
In singles action, Cotton picked up the lone win for the Catamounts in the No. 4 position with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Whisenhunt. All other singles matches were wrapped up in two sets as well with Wofford coming out on top in each of the remaining five match-ups.
The Catamounts are set to host Tusculum on Sunday (Mar. 28) with a start time of 1:00 pm at the Reid Gym Courts.
