Western Carolina Women's Tennis Falls 4-3 to Presbyterian

CLINTON, S.C. - Western Carolina women's tennis opened the 2008 season with a hard-fought loss to Presbyterian College Saturday, falling 4-3 to the Blue Hose.

The Catamounts opened the match by winning two of three doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead. Western Carolina got wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to pick up the early point.

Tessie Salame defeated Presbyterian's Brittany Lanford 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1. Catamounts also picked up a win at No. 4 singles with Amanda Massey defeating the Blue Hose's Virginia Waldron 5-7, 6-3, 6-0.

Presbyterian's Megan Davis Defeated WCU's Marianna Jane at No. 3 singles to secure the 4-3 win for the Blue Hose.

Western Carolina returns to action Sunday to face Charlotte. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
