* Western Carolina earned its first road win of the season (1-11) against the College of Charleston ... it also marked the team's first victory in a game played on Saturday this year (1-8);
* Dating back to last year, Western's win over the College of Charleston snapped a 14-game road losing skid (WCU lost its last three on the road a year ago and its first 11 this season) ... the drought had been 378 total days ... Prior to Saturday night's win, WCU's most recent victory away from home came at The Citadel (W, 78-68 - 2/3/07);
* the win over the Cougars snapped a nine-game losing skid to Charleston which dates back to the 2000 season when Western upended CofC, 78-74, in Cullowhee ... it was also just the fourth win all-time for WCU in the 17-game series;
* WCU's win at the Kresse Arena also marked the school's first-ever win in the Lowcountry of South Carolina over the Cougars ... Western was 0-6 previously versus CofC in Charleston;
* Sophomore guard Brandon Giles stretched his current double-figure scoring streak to 16 games with a game-high 25 points ... during his current streak, the Auburndale, Fla., native has surpassed the 20-point plateau eight times;
* Senior Arnold Gore posted his third-straight, double-digit scoring performance with 15 points;
* For the most part, WCU used a seven-man rotation versus the College of Charleston as senior Negus McKenna subbed in just once playing a combined three minutes ... two Catamounts -- senior Eric Wilson and sophomore Brigham Waginger -- each played all 40 minutes with sophomore Brandon Giles racking up 37 minutes of court time;
* Western Carolina will go for another seasonal first this Thursday (Feb. 21) as it hosts UNC Greensboro in the Ramsey Center at 7:03 pm -- WCU has yet to win back-to-back games this season ... Playing at home, the Catamounts are 6-5 this season and are coming off a 70-64 win over North Division co-leader, Chattanooga, in their last home date.
