WESTERN VS. LIBERTY - THE SERIES: With the loss to Liberty, the all-time series between WCU and Liberty is tied up at 3-3 ... the Flames have now won back-to-back games over the Catamounts dating back to 2006.

RUSHING FOR A FIRST TD: Red-shirt freshman running back Quan Warley rushed his way to his first career touchdown as a Catamount, when he scampered 15 yards for a touchdown in the with 1:52 left in the first quarter to give WCU the lead, 7-3 ... Warley also rushed for a team-high 58 yards against Liberty and set career-bests with five catches for 27 yards.

LEADING AT THE HALF: For the second time in three games, Western Carolina led its opponent at the half, holding on to a tenuous 7-6 lead heading into the locker room. The team is now 1-1 when leading at the half.

BLOCK PARTY: With the blocked field goal by Catamount Chris Everett in the second quarter, Western Carolina has blocked a field goal attempt by an opponent in two of its first three games of the season - both coming at home. Darrel Gray blocked a field goal attempt by Shorter in WCU's home-opener on August 28 ... sophomore Mitchell Bell was credited with a blocked extra point in the loss to Liberty.

THE LONGEST YARD - PASSING: WCU quarterback Andy Horn connected with Marquel Pittman on a 78-yard touchdown pass on the first play to open the fourth quarter. It was the longest pass/receiving play of the season for both Horn and Pittman ... and as of Saturday evening, tied the longest pass play by a Southern Conference team this season, knotting up with The Citadel who hit the mark against Webber International on August 30.

SOUNDING THE HORN: Catamount QB Andy Horn threw for the second-most yards of the season with 228 against the Flame - he had a career-high 262 against Shorter. It is the second time in as many home games Horn has passed for over 200 yards.
