Post-Game Notes
Chattanooga 24, Western Carolina 20
Finley Stadium / Davenport Field
Sat., Oct. 31, 2009

With the loss...
- Western Carolina has dropped eight-straight games on the road dating back to last season, and suffered its 15th-straight Southern Conference road defeat ... WCU has dropped 23 of its last 24 games away from Cullowhee; - WCU failed to win a game this season in which it held a lead (took first lead of the season, 14-10, against The Citadel back on Oct. 17); - The Catamounts are guaranteed to finish 2009 with a below .500 record in Southern Conference play, marking the fourth-straight and 21st out of 33 seasons since 1977.

Post-Game Notes:
- Mitchell Bell's interception on Chattanooga's first drive of the game was Western Carolina's first interception of the season ... the pick was the sixth career INT for Bell ... the interception ended a seven-game drought as Bell had WCU's last interception against Appalachian State in the 2008 season finale ... the interception ended a string of 221 opponent pass attempts without a Catamount interception;
- Blake Bostic's 37-yard field goal in the first quarter represented Western Carolina's first, first quarter points on the season, giving WCU just its second lead of the season and first, first half lead ... WCU led at halftime for the first time this season, 13-3, over the Mocs;
- Chris Collins forced his ninth career fumble - and second this season - on a fake field goal attempt by Chattanooga in the first quarter;
- Western Carolina held Chattanooga off the scoreboard in the first quarter marking the third-time in the past four games that the Catamount defense had not allowed a first quarter score;
- D.J. McLendon hauled in a career-long 46-yard reception midway through the second quarter to help set-up WCU's first touchdown of the day, a one-yard toss sweep left to Michael Johnson;
- Chris Everett hauled in his first-career touchdown reception, a 19-yard scoring strike from quarterback Zack Jaynes late in the third quarter to give the Catamounts a 20-9 lead;
- Jaynes' touchdown pass to Everett ended a five-game drought without a passing tally for the Canton, N.C., native ... His drought encompassed 151 combined pass attempts spanning 22 quarters;
- Chattanooga's Craig Camay made four field goals on Saturday marking the second-time this season an opponent's placekicker has connected on four triples in a game ... Matches Furman's Matt Cesari who hit four field goals on Sept. 26, 2009 in Cullowhee;
- Western Carolina quarterback Zack Jaynes opened the first half 10-of-16 for 101 yards passing - he finished by completing just 5-of-12 for just 41 yards in the second half.

Team captains for Saturday afternoon's game; #12 Zack Jaynes; #16 Antoine George; #68 Victor Aquilina; #82 Gene Singletary ... Western Carolina won the opening coin toss and deferred to the second half.
