* Western Carolina has matched the most season victories in Larry Hunter's tenure in Cullowhee, posting its 13th win on Saturday night ... Hunter won 13 games in his first season at the helm of the Catamount program (13-17);

* The eight SoCon victories for WCU are its most since winning 10 back in the 1995-96 season, which was also its only divisional and tournament championship season;

* Western Carolina snapped a 10-game losing skid to Appalachian State, also ending a four-game drought against their arch-rivals in Cullowhee ... it was also Hunter's first over the Mountaineers (1-8) ... The Catamounts avenged a 76-70 loss to the Mountaineers on Jan. 24.

* Western moved to 9-2 at home in the Ramsey Center this season, one win shy of tying a facility record for seasonal victories ... WCU has won 11 of its last 13 home games and nine of its last 10 Southern Conference games in the building;

* Western Carolina had a season-high attendance on Saturday night -- 2,079 -- despite it being the Valentine's Day holiday ... the win was WCU's first on Valentine's Day since 1992-93, an 84-51 home win over VMI ... Since joining the Southern Conference, Western Carolina is just 2-11 in games played on the holiday.
