Greenville, S.C. - Western Carolina women's tennis was swept by Furman 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Mickel Tennis Center. The match was played indoors due to inclement weather. The Lady Paladins improved to 8-6 overall, 3-0 in league action while extending their SoCon regular-season winninng streak to 91 matches. Western Carolina dropped to 4-10, 0-4 in the SoCon.

Furman dropped only two games in the three doubles matches to earn the team doubles point. Brooke Mosteller and Jessica Preeg teamed together for the first time this season, posting a shutout win against Emily Turke and Jennifer Brazelton at number three. Laura Gioia and Monica Arguello won their fifth consecutive match with an 8-1 defeat of Amanda Massey and Ainhoa Iglesias at the top position.

In singles action, Arguello and Lauren Tomory got victories at position two and five, respectively. Gioia lost only one game in her victory over Izabella Glinska at number one. Susan Bitetti topped Chelsea Best, 6-0, 6-2, and Mosteller earned her first career SoCon win with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Turke.

Western Carolina will travel to Greensboro, N.C. to take on UNC Greensboro Saturday. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
