Spartanburg, S.C. -
Due to continued rain showers throughout the Upstate of South Carolina, and the threat of impending thunderstorms throughout the evening, Western Carolina's baseball game at Wofford for Saturday has been cancelled.
WCU and Wofford will play a double-header beginning at Noon on Sunday afternoon at Wofford's Russell King Field. Both games will be broadcast on WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5 and www.WWCUFM.com with an air time of 11:45 am.
Officials had hoped to play Friday night until a late storm cell dropped extra rain on the facility on Wofford's campus preventing the three-game series from opening. Saturday's game was moved from its originally scheduled 3:00 pm first pitch to Noon in hopes of getting the game in before rain entered the area, but showers began mid-morning pushing the attempt back until late evening.
With the threat of severe thunderstorms across northern South Carolina, though, officials were prompted to cancel Saturday's attempts at opening the series.
