GREENVILLE, N.C. - Western Carolina softball dropped its final game of the series with Furman 5-0 Sunday at Pepsi Stadium. The Catamounts fall to 11-31 and 7-14 in the Southern Conference while Furman improves to 20-25 and 10-10 in the SoCon.

The Paladin's scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to ice game. Starting Catamount pitcher Katie King had five solid innings before giving up five hits, and the four runs, in the sixth inning. She falls to 5-15 on the season and posted two strikeouts in the game.

Western Carolina left seven runners on base throughout the course of the game and had just four hits. It is the second straight game the Catamounts have been shutout. Twice the Catamounts had runners on third, in the first and sixth inning, and couldn't push a runner across the plate.

Danielle Reese, Keri Burnside, Beth Hauser and Brittany Barrineau each had hits in the game. Furman pitcher Lana Mackey had eight strikeouts in the game and improves to 11-12 on the season.

Western Carolina will host its final regular season doubleheader of the season welcoming East Tennessee State Wednesday. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at the Catamount Softball Complex.
