With the loss...
- Western Carolina has dropped 15-straight against Georgia Southern, equaling the longest active losing skid in a SoCon series - matching Chattanooga's 15-straight losses to Furman;
- The Catamounts also remained winless in Statesboro, falling to 0-10 all-time at Paulson Stadium;
- It marks WCU's second 0-3 start since 2000 after opening the 2007 season 0-3 with losses at Alabama, Eastern Kentucky and Georgia;
- Western Carolina has dropped six-straight road games dating back to the 2008 season, last winning away from home at Presbyterian;
- Western Carolina dropped to 0-2 all-time under head coach Dennis Wagner when wearing white jerseys over purple pants.
Post-Game Notes:
- Western Carolina was held scoreless in the first half for the third-straight game this season, trailing 17-0 at intermission ... the Catamounts trailed 21-0 at Vanderbilt and 13-0 at home against Gardner-Webb ... WCU has been outscored 34-0 in the opening two quarters in the first three games;
- Georgia Southern's defense held Western Carolina to minus-12 yards rushing, the second-lowest total allowed in program history and in the process set a Paulson Stadium record ... GSU also gave up just four first downs (at VMI, Oct. 1993) and none rushing (vs. Valdosta State, Sept. 1992), both matching program records;
- WCU's Chris Collins had a career-high 14 tackles in the loss at Georgia Southern including nine solo stops and five assisted - he matched his career-high of 12 in the first half alone with eight solo stops and four assists;
- WR Marquel Pittman finished with 93 yards receiving on just three catches - all of which came in the first half.
