With the loss...
- Western Carolina has dropped four-straight to open the season and six-consecutive dating back to last season;
- WCU has dropped four-straight in the head-to-head series with Furman, and the 11th loss in the last 12 overall meetings between the two;
- It marked WCU's fourth-straight loss in games played on Mountain Heritage Day;
- WCU fell to 18-15 all-time in Southern Conference home openers.

Post-Game Notes:
- After being held scoreless in the first half against Furman, Western Carolina has yet to score points in the first half this season, a string of four-straight games.

- The Western Carolina offense scored its first rushing touchdowns of the season, also representing the first career rushing toucdowns for both running backs who hit paydirt - sophomore RB Nate Harris, who was listed as a wide receiver a season ago, tallied his first rushing score on a six-yard scramble in the third quarter ... it was Harris' second career score as he posted a receiving touchdown a season ago; redshirt freshman RB Dion Wilson posted his career rushing TD on a six-yard rumble midway through the fourth quarter;

- Both Dion Wilson and Nate Harris posted career-highs in rushing, finishing with 68 and 67 yards, respectively;

- Western Carolina's touchdown in the third quarter marked its longest scoring drive of the season in terms of plays and yardage, moving 80 yards in 15 plays and consuming 7:27 on the clock ... WCU's second TD drive represented its longest scoring drive in terms of yardage, covering 92 yards;

- WCU's 92-yard drive was its longest scoring drive since going 97 yards in eight plays last season at Presbyterian (Sept. 20, 2008).

Miscellaneous Notes:
Team captains for Saturday night's game; #16 Antoine George; #68 Victor Aquilina; #80 Marquel Pittman and #82 Gene Singletary ... Western Carolina won the opening coin toss and elected to receive.
