CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Western Carolina women's soccer (5-7-3, 2-3-2 SoCon) played to a 1-1 two overtime tie with Chattanooga (3-10-2, 1-4-2 SoCon) Friday at Finley Stadium. It is the second tie in Southern Conference play and third overall for the Catamounts.

Almost nine minutes into the first half, Western Carolina was the benefit of a Chattanooga own goal. Sophomore forward Laura Greb was on a corner kick and after a scrum in front of the net, the Lady Mocs scored a goal in their own net. It was Chattanooga's first own goal of the season.

Chattanooga went on the offensive after that and in the next 25 minutes had eight shots. The ninth shot hit the mark for the Lady Mocs as Becca Smith sent a shot into the Catmount net that bounced off the hands of WCU goalie Caitlin Williams for the score.

Western Carolina's best chance, in the second half, to break the 1-1 tie came from freshman Katie Weigel. She took a shot and the Lady Mocs Taylor Magnum picked up the save. Fellow freshman Christine Kaznowski followed up Weigel's shot with one of her own that went wide.

Chattanooga countered with a barrage of shots of its own and Williams notched three saves in a row to hold the Lady Mocs off. Chattanooga ended regulation with its 10th shot of the half when Kebri Towry attempted a header that went wide.

Greb took a shot in the first overtime that looked to give Western Carolina the win but Magnum notched fourth save of the match. Chattanooga had one last ditch effort to break the tie in the second overtime off a header by Smith but Williams saved the attempt for her 11th of the match.

Greb and Weigel each had two shots in the match.

Western Carolina continues its three-match road swing with a stop in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday to take on Samford. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
