Post-Game Notes
Western Carolina 24, The Citadel 13
Johnson Hagood Stadium - Charleston, S.C.
Sat., Oct. 2, 2010

With the win...
- Western Carolina snaps a 16-game Southern Conference road losing skid ... It is the first road win in conference play for WCU since downing Chattanooga on the road during the 2005 season;
- Gives the Catamounts consecutive wins over The Citadel, coupled with last year's 14-10 home win over the Bulldogs on Homecoming;
- Halts WCU's three-game winless drought in games played against The Citadel in Charleston;
- Marks the first time since 2002 that Western Carolina has won two road games during a single-season.

Post-Game Notes:
- Freshman QB Brandon Pechloff became the first true freshman quarterback to start for Western Carolina since Chad Greene started under center back in 1991 ... Pechloff completed 10-of-19 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns in the win;

- Fred Mitchell Award candidate, WCU placekicker Blake Bostic connected on his first field goal of the season - a 40-yard attempt to give the Catamounts an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter;

- Western Carolina returned to players which had missed the past two outings due to illness ... Senior OL Jacoby Hammon returned to the starting lineup while redshirt freshman WR Deja Alexander subbed in during the first quarter at wideout;

- Marquel Pittman's first quarter touchdown reception gave him 16 for his WCU career moving him into sole possession of sixth all-time on the career ... Pittman is two behind former Catamount standout, Jerry Gaines (1970-74) who had 18 career TD catches;

- Western Carolina has scored first in four if its five games on the season: drove for a season-opening TD at North Carolina State, capped by a 23-yard pass from Zack Jaynes to Deja Alexander; fumble return for a score at Gardner-Webb; Josh Cockrell's pass to Jacoby Mitchell against Chattanooga; and Blake Bostic's 40-yard field at The Citadel.

- The Citadel out gained Western Carolina 188-to-17 in yardage in the third quarter ... the Bulldogs also held on to the football for 11:30 of the 15 minute period;

- Senior Adam Hearns saw time in the shotgun at quarterback in the "Wild-Catamount" formation, scoring his second touchdown of the season - his first on offense - with a direct snap rush from five yards out that gave WCU the insurance touchdown.
