CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina softball (3-15, 0-3 Southern Conference) dropped the final game of its three-game series with Elon (14-4, 3-0 SoCon) 18-2, in five innings, Sunday at the Catamount Softball Complex.

Elon pitcher Lauren Taylor, 7-1, had her perfect game broken up when she gave up a walk to junior Amber Hawkins in the bottom of the fourth inning and then a pair of hits and runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Colby Liles was the second base runner of the game for Western Carolina when she drew a lead-off walk in the bottom of the fifth. A Phoenix error put Shemekia Scotten on first and moved Liles to second and Wills' hit loaded the bases. With one out, Jordan Fulton hit a single past the third baseman to score Liles, and break up the Elon shutout. Sophomore Chelsea Schaffer pushed in a second run with an RBI single that plated Scotten.

The Phoenix hit two grand-slams in the game. Danielle Lafferty hit a four-bagger in the third inning and Pam Del Pizzo hit one in the fourth.
