Charleston, S.C. - Andrew Goudelock led four Cougars in double figure scoring with a game-high 29 points en route to becoming the College of Charleston's all-time leading scorer in a 93-64 victory over Western Carolina Thursday night in Southern Conference action at the Carolina First Arena.

Goudelock buried consecutive first half 3-pointers as a part of scoring eight-straight points for the Cougars as the home squad broke open a four-point, 17-13, game to take a double-digit lead it would never relinquish at the 12:50 mark of the opening stanza.

Western Carolina (8-11, 4-3 SoCon) put three players in double figures led by the career-high of freshman Brandon Boggs. The Greenville, S.C., native just missed a double-double with a career-best 19 points and nine rebounds including six on the offensive end, adding three steals on the defensive end.

Senior Mike Williams scored 18 points with three steals while backcourt mate Trey Sumler finished with 11 points in the loss.

Turnovers and inconsistency on both ends of the court plagued the Catamounts which saw its four-game winning streak snapped with its first loss of 2011. WCU committed a season-high 23 giveaways while witnessing the Cougars shoot the second-best percentage from the field by a Catamount opponent at 57.1-percent.

After trailing by 20 at halftime, 48-28, Western Carolina was able to claw back with 17 on a 3-pointer by Williams just over a minute into the second half, and to within 18 on a Williams triple at the 12:55 mark. However after the latter, the Cougars effectively put the game out of reach with a 12-0 run to stretch the lead to 30, with CofC leading by as many as 36 in the second half.

Goudelock was joined in double figures by classmates Jeremy Simmons with 20 points and Donovan Monroe with 10 while Willis Hall also chipped in 10 points. Andrew Lawrence scored eight while dishing out seven assists.

Western Carolina travels across town as it faces The Citadel Bulldogs on Saturday evening at the McAlister Field House. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 pm with coverage on the Catamount Sports Network beginning at 6:30 pm on 680 AM WRGC in Sylva, 920 AM WPTL in Canton, and online at CatamountSports.com.
