GREENVILLE, S.C. - Western Carolina women's tennis suffered a 7-0 loss at Furman on Senior Day in SoCon action on Wednesday at the Mickel Tennis Center. Catamount Ainhoa Iglesias Díaz stretched Furman's Margaret Boyette to a tiebreaker, but Boyette held on, winning the match 4-6, 6-1, 10-4.

In doubles, Furman got out to early breaks in the Nos. 1 and 2 matches and extended those leads to 8-2 and 8-1 victories, respectively.

In singles, the No. 5 match was the first decided as Susan Bitetti scored a 6-0, 6-0 win over Katie Barry to put the Paladins' lead to 3-0. No. 72-ranked Monica Arguello picked up a win in her final appearance in Greenville, defeating Izabella Glinska in the No. 1 slot, winning 6-1, 6-2.

Sophomores Lauren Kline and Michele Stanford picked up wins for the Paladins, defeating Carolina Lainez, 6-1, 6-3, and Karen Jiménez, 6-2, 6-2.

Western Carolina hosts its final home, SoCon match of the 2011 campaign on Sat., April 16, taking on the College of Charleston at 10:00 a.m. at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
