Box Score

Macon, Ga. - Despite wins in singles play by Carolina Lainez and Ainhoa Iglesias Díaz, the Catamounts (2-10) fell to the Mercer Bears (4-12) Friday afternoon at the Leroy Peddy Tennis Center in Macon, Ga.

Mercer began the day by winning close two close doubles matches. Jennifer Lada and Aurelie de Montjou won at No. 1 doubles, defeating Carolina Lainez and Ainhoa Iglesias Díaz, 8-6. The No. 2 match's score mirrored that of the No. 1 match with MU's Amalia Bugge and Lucie Payrat defeating Izabella Glinska and Karen Jiménez 8-6.

In the singles competition, the Bears were able to pull off the win at the No. 5 spot between Amanda Bertani and Western's Katie Barry by a score of 6-1, 6-2. Ainhoa Iglesias Díaz was able to pick up her fourth win of the season by defeating de Montjou 6-2, 6-3. At No. 1, Mercer's Lada was a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Izabella Glinska.

In he No. 2 match, Carolina Lainez notched her team-leading sixth singles win of the season by topping Amalia Bugge, 7-5, 6-4. Lucie Payrat was able to pick up her 11th win of the season, needing three sets to best sophomore Karen Jiménez 3-6, 6-2, 12-10.

The Catamounts return home Sunday to take on SoCon rival Appalachian State at 1 p.m. at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
