With the Win ...
- Western Carolina remains tied for first place in the Southern Conference standings, matching its season-long winning streak at three-straight victories ... the Catamounts are tied with Chattanooga, a 38-31, victor on Saturday afternoon against league newcomer, Mercer ... The two wins sets up a battle of unbeaten teams in the SoCon next week in Cullowhee;

- The Catamounts claimed their first 4-0 start in the Southern Conference place since 1978, which matches the best SoCon start in program history;

- Western Carolina halted a three-game slide in the head-to-head series vs. The Citadel, scoring its first victory over the Bulldogs since 2010 and its first home win over the Cadets since 2009;

- Western Carolina remained unbeaten at home in 2014 (4-0);

- The Catamounts have now won back-to-back Homecoming games ... WCU halted a three-game slide with last year's thrilling, 27-24, overtime victory over Elon ... It is the first time that WCU has claimed consecutive Homecoming games since winning five-straight between 1998-2002;

- Gives Western Carolina the most wins (6) since seven wins in 2001;

Post-Game Notes:
- Western Carolina amassed a season-high 633 yards of total offense on Saturday afternoon including a season-best 342 rushing yards and 291 passing yards ... the 633 total yards are the most by a Catamount offense since tallying 663 yards of total offense against Mars Hill back on Sept. 10, 2011 ... WCU's 342 rushing yards were its most since also running for 342 yards in a home victory over Mars Hill back on Aug. 30, 2012;

- Saturday's attendance of 13,323 was the 10th-largest crowd in the history of E.J. Whitmire Stadium ... the total was the third-best attendance figure in a game not involving long-time arch-rival, Appalachian State (No. 7 vs. Furman, 13,778; No. 9 vs. Georgia Southern, 13,460) ... Saturday's number was just 149 shy of the official published seating capacity of Whitmire Stadium;

- Western Carolina had two teammates record 100-yard rushing performances on Saturday as Troy Mitchell (131) and Detrez Newsome (123) both went over 100 yards on the ground ... Mitchell's 131 rushing yards and Newsome's 123 were both career highs ... It was the first time since the meeting with The Citadel a year ago - Sept. 14, 2013 - that WCU had two backs eclipse the century mark in the same game ... It was also the first 100-yard rushing performance for Newsome in his career;

- Freshman tailback Detrez Newsome tallied a pair of rushing scores in the home victory over The Citadel ... It is the fourth time this season that the tailback scored two TDs on the ground this season ... He currently leads the Catamounts with 60 points on 10 touchdowns - nine on the ground and one kickoff return for a score ... He ranks third in the SoCon in scoring (7.5 pts/gm);

- Newsome finished with 154 all-purpose yards, just behind Terryon Robinson with 183 ... Newsome continues to lead the SoCon with a 128.4 yd/gm average in all-purpose yards;

- Junior tailback Darius Ramsey added his 12th career rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, breaking free for a 20-yard run;

- In addition to the duo of backs over the 100-yard mark, WCU had a 100-yard receiver as sophomore Terryon Robinson caught 10 passes for 183 yards ... It is the second-time this season that WCU had a 100-yard rusher and receiver in the same game, duplicating the performance of Ramsey and Spearman Robinson from the road win at Furman (Sept. 27, 2014);

- Terryon Robinson's 100-yard game represents back-to-back weeks that WCU has had a 100-yard receiver ... For Robinson, it was his second 100-yard receiving outing of the season, also accounting for 121 yards on 15 catches in the season-opener at USF ... Robinson surpassed the 1,000 career receiving yard mark on Saturday, currently with 1,022 career yards;

- Tight end Tyler Sexton scored Western Carolina's first touchdown of the game, an eight-yard pass from Troy Mitchell ... Sexton has two receptions this season, both going for touchdowns;

- Sophomore wide receiver Terryon Robinson had a solid day with 10 receptions for 183 yards including a long of 43 yards ... Seven different receivers hauled in passes for the Catamounts in the win with Karnorris Benson tallying the only other points for the receivers on a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter;

- Sophomore defensive back Trey Morgan forced two fumbles in the win over The Citadel including one that saved what would have been a long rushing touchdown for the Bulldogs ... Seniors Ace Clark and Christon Gill were credited with the fumble recoveries;

- Defensive back Trey Morgan came away with his team - and Southern Conference-leading - fifth interception of the season in the win over The Citadel ... Morgan now has six career interceptions ... Morgan ranks second in the SoCon in passes defended, averaging 1.25 per game and 10 total on the year;

- Western Carolina trailed at halftime for just the second-time this season, failing to score on the final play of the second quarter to trail The Citadel, 8-7, at intermission - the other was at Presbyterian (13-7) ... WCU improved to 1-1 this season when trailing at the half;

- After moving into the all-time Top 10 in tackles a week ago, redshirt senior DB Ace Clark continued his climb in the WCU record books ... With his six stops against The Citadel, Clark now has 315 career tackles to move up to eighth all-time, by-passing both Everett Spellman (314, 1984-87) and Louis Cooper (312, 1981-84);

- Sophomore linebacker Tyson Dickson led WCU with a career-best 16 tackles ... junior John McBeth added a career-high eight stops against The Citadel's triple-option attack.
