With the Loss ...
- It halts Western Carolina's three-game seasonal winning streak, as well as WCU's four-game unbeaten streak in SoCon play ... It also handed WCU its first home loss in 2014 ... the Catamounts to 4-1 on the year both at home and in SoCon play ... WCU dropped into a tie for second-place in the SoCon;

- Western Carolina dropped its sixth-consecutive game in the head-to-head series with Chattanooga, keeping WCU winless against the Mocs since 2008;

- WCU has now dropped 23-straight games against nationally-ranked NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) foes ... the Catamounts have not defeated a nationally-ranked FCS team since 2006.

Post-Game Notes:
- Western Carolina was held scoreless for the first time since falling to then No. 4 Alabama 49-0 on Nov. 10, 2012 ... It was just the fourth shutout victory by either side in the all-time, head-to-head series - and the first since 2003 ... Both teams have two shutout victories in the series;

- Saturday's loss was WCU's first shutout defeat in Southern Conference play since a 17-0 loss in a season-ending road game at The Citadel back on Nov. 20, 2004 ... Overall, it was the first shutout defeat against a NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) opponent since 2006 (21-0 at Liberty, Nov. 4, 2006);

- Saturday's shutout loss was WCU's first at home since 1967 (10-0 vs. Presbyterian, Nov. 18, 1967) - and the first-ever for the Catamounts at E.J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field since moving into the facility in 1974;

- The 51 points scored by Chattanooga is the most Western Carolina has given up this season and the 38 first half points is also the most scored by a WCU opponent in 2014;

- Western Carolina's 102 total yards on offense (14 rushing, 88 passing) was a season-low for the Catamounts which entered the game averaging 412.9 yards per game ... the 102 yards were the fewest for the Catamounts since only mustering 72 total yards (-2 rushing, 74 passing) in a road loss at Appalachian State in 2008 ... Chattanooga recorded 512 total offensive yards, the most allowed by WCU this season;

- For just the second-time this season, Western Carolina's defense failed to create a turnover against the Mocs ... the other game came in the home win over Brevard ... It halts a streak of six-straight games with at least one takeaway for WCU ... the Catamount defense has 18 takeaways on the season;

- WCU senior linebacker Christon Gill was credited with a career-high 14 tackles;

- WCU freshman quarterback Wes Holcombe completed his first career pass in the fourth quarter against Chattanooga on a 12-yard completion to senior wideout Jeff Moore;

- Freshman punter Destry Barnwell booted a career-long, 61-yard punt in the home loss to the Mocs;

- Western Carolina was just 1-for-11 on third down conversions and had the ball for 21:59 to Chattanooga's 38:01.

Miscellaneous Notes:
- Western Carolina's team captains for Saturday afternoon's game were: junior QB #10 Troy Mitchell; senior QB #18 Garrett Brown; junior tailback #20 Darius Ramsey; senior DB #28 Ace Clark; and senior LB #37 K.P. Hicks ... Western Carolina won the opening coin toss and deferred to the second half ... UTC received the opening kickoff;

- Western Carolina junior offensive lineman #76 Josh Wineberg carried out the American flag and junior linebacker #4 Sertonuse Harris carried out the "All You Got" flag during pregame.
