Women's Soccer Nets 1-1 Tie at Longwood

FARMVILLE, Va. - Western Carolina women's soccer (0-2-1) tied 1-1 in double overtime at Longwood (1-1-1) Friday night.

The Catamounts scored when junior forward Markie-Lynn Studnicky sent a header into the goal off a corner kick by Madison Lee. Western Carolina held onto the tenuous 1-0 lead until the Lancers fought back to tie the match.

Longwood's Samantha Phillips netted the game-tying goal with just five minutes left in the match. Phillips took a pass from the top of the penalty arch and scored.

Both teams would be held scoreless through the remaining of regulation and into the two overtimes. Catamount freshman forward Chandler Arrowood had a solid look at the goal in the waning minutes of the first overtime but her shot went just wide right.

Western Carolina returns to action Sunday playing at High Point. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
