RECORD BREAKING & CAREER-SETTING NIGHTS:
- By halftime of Saturday night's game, Western Carolina junior quarterback Troy Mitchell had already surpassed his career-high for completions with 22 in the opening two quarters - his previous high was 20, both coming against Mars Hill;

- Mitchell shattered two single-game records by a quarterback - his career-high 46 completions established a new benchmark, by-passing Brian Gaither's record of 35 completions set back in 2003at Georgia Southern ... Mitchell's 66 pass attempts surpassed Jeff Gilbert's 57 offerings against Chattanooga in 1984;

- Mitchell threw for a career-high 374 yards with two touchdowns ... His 374 yards through the air are tied for the ninth-best , single-game performance, matching Mark Smith (1987 vs. The Citadel) and Jimmy Williams (1966 vs. Appalachian State);

- Western Carolina sophomore wide receiver Terryon Robinson matched a school single-game record with a career-high 15 catches, finishing with121 yards ... Robinson tied Eric Rasheed who caught 15 passes against Chattanooga back in 1984;

- In addition to Robinson's career-night, second-year wide out Willie Police also posted double-digit receptions, hauling in a career-high 12 for 86 receiving yards ... Police's 12 catches are tied for third on WCU's all-time single-game receptions list

Post-Game Notes:
- During pregame warm-ups, lightning in the Tampa area chased teams from the field in a delay that lasted one hour and nine minutes ... It is the second-time that a WCU football game in Florida has been delayed - in 2008, the WCU-Florida State game endured delays that lasted well over two hours;

- Western Carolina had two turnovers on its first two possessions - a fumble on the first drive after a pair of first downs and an interception on a reverse pass by a wide receiver near mid-field;

- WCU got its first takeaway of the season midway through the first quarter as Ace Clark came up with a pick over the middle, returning it 12 yards ... For Clark, the interception was the third of his career and set-up game's first points on a Troy Mitchell touchdown rush ... the rushing score for Mitchell was the 11th of his Catamount career;

- Darius Ramsey spurred WCU's second touchdown of the game with a 15-yard run and 36-yard reception on a 3rd & 10 situation late in the first quarter ... Ramsey tallied his seventh career rushing touchdown;

- Western Carolina led South Florida at halftime, 17-16 ... WCU's first half lead was its first over a NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision team since a 3-0 lead over Maryland back in 1999 coming off of a Josh Jones field goal ... It represented the first-time ever that WCU led a FBS team at halftime;

- Western Carolina opened the second half with an onside kick by Richard Sigmon ... the kick bounced off the up-backs for the USF return team and was recovered by Avery Worsham to give the Catamounts possession;

- Junior London Richardson made his first career touch in a game with a third quarter carry in a jumbo formation, gaining two yards for a first down.

Miscellaneous Notes:
