GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The No. 6 seeded Western Carolina women's soccer team fell to No. 3 seed UNCG, 3-1, Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Championships.
The Catamounts took the early 1-0 lead off a header goal by senior midfielder Kimberly Sullivan from an assist by fellow senior Amanda Schwartz. Less than four minutes later UNCG tied the game at 1-1.
Knotted at one to open the second half, UNCG took the lead off a goal by Chesney White at the 55:14 minutes. The Spartans added an insurance goal at 66:43.
Western Carolina ends its season with a record of 8-8-3. UNCG earns a spot in the Southern Conference semi-finals Nov. 6 held on the Furman University campus.
Turning Point
Tied at 1-1, UNCG took the lead for good scoring at the 55th minute of the second half.
Individual Leaders
- Sullivan scored her career-high fourth goal of the season.
- The assist by Schwartz was her third of the season.
