GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Western Carolina men's and women's cross country competed at the 2015 Southern Conference Championships Saturday on the campus of Furman University. The women finish in a tie for fifth while the men placed sixth.
The Catamount men's team ended with 169 points for sixth place. Furman won the title with a team score of 20.
Freshman Liam Brooks was the top finisher for Western Carolina's men's team coming in 16th with a time of 25:13.52. He also made the SoCon All-Freshman team. Senior Jamie Bigby was the final Catamount to make the top 30th at 28th place with a time of 25:51.31.
On the women's side, the Catamount's amassed 141 points for a tie for fifth place with Samford. Furman won the event with 33 points.
Freshman Kaitlyn Lingard finished in the top 15 for the Catamounts at No. 13 with a time of 19:06.72. She also earned SoCon Second Team All-Conference and the all-freshman team.
Senior Kaitlyn Shetler just came in the top 20 of runners at 20th place with a time of 19:36.16.
Emma Hand and Jada Blake were also placed on the SoCon All-Freshman team.
