CULLOWHEE, N.C. -- Three players scored in double figures as Western Carolina women's basketball knocked off Anderson University 72-55, who is ranked No. 22 in the NCAA Division II WBCA poll, Sunday in the Ramsey Center.
Sophomore guard Ace Easter led Western Carolina with 16 points, her second straight game scoring in double figures. Freshman Raziyah Farrington added 12 points and Julia Brown had 11.
Western Carolina shot 45 percent from the field holding Anderson to just 33.3 percent. The Catamounts also ripped down 44 rebounds, 25 on the defensive end, and held Anderson to 31.
The Catamounts outscored Anderson in three of the four periods in the game.
Turning Point
Western Carolina outscored Anderson 20-10 in the first period and set the tone for the Catamounts only trailing once, 2-0, to open the game.
Individual Leaders
- Farrington's 12 points was a career-high.
- Senior forward Lindsey Burleson ripped down a career-high eight rebounds, which also led the team. - Easter was 6-of-14 from the field.
