Easter Ties Career-High With 23 in 69-53 Win Over Florida A&M

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Ace Easter tied her career-high with 23 points as Western Carolina women's basketball halted a four-game losing slide with a 69-53 win over Florida A&M Sunday. The contest was the Catamounts final game at the Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Kennesaw State.

The Catamounts ripped down a season-high 51 rebounds led by senior forward Brianne Mack's career-high 10 boards. Western Carolina held Florida A&M to 38.

Sophomore forward Sherae Bonner, who just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds, scored seven of the Western Carolina's final nine points in the game.

Western Carolina won every period, including a big second period outscoring FAMU 22-14, to secure the win. The Catamounts were tall inside the paint scoring 34 points and also got 28 points from their bench.

The Catamounts weathered through 24 tunrovers and had to fend off a crafty Rattler team that turned those turnovers into 19 points.

After suffering through four tough losses, Western Carolina found a way to win against a tenacious Florida A&M thanks to the Catamounts 46.8 percent from the floor. The Catamounts also hit four three-pointers and were 7-of-13 from the free throw line. WCU held Florida A&M to an anemic 25.4 percent shooting from the field.

Florida A&M's Khadejra Young led the Rattlers with 17 points and Olivia Antilla followed with 15.

Turning Point
Western Carolina led in every period including a big second period out-scoring Florida A&M 22-14.

Individual Leaders
- Easter tied her career-high with 23 points which also led all scorers.
- Bonner dished out a career-high five rebounds to go with 10 points and nine rebounds.
- Mack pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds.
