CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball fell to Wofford 63-55 Saturday on senior day in the Ramsey Center.

The Catamounts fall to 9-18 on the season and 1-11 in the Southern Conference. Wofford improves to 8-19 and 3-9 in the SoCon.

Western Carolina watched a 17 point, 41-24, first half lead evaporate as the lop-sided scoring fell in Wofford's favor in the second half. The Terriers stormed out in the second half to out-score WCU 39-14 in the final 20 minutes.

The Terriers shot a scorching 50 percent in the second half after shooting 36 percent in the first half. The Catamounts were held to just 19.2 percent shooting in the second half and did not hit a three-pointer after nailing four in the first half.

The charity stripe was unkind to WCU in the second frame as well. After the perfection of 17-of-17 in the first half, the Catamounts were just 4-of-8 in the second half.

A huge scoring drought also plagued WCU in the second half. Western Carolina went from 13:30 to 8:13 without scoring. Senior Makensey Campbell finally hit a jumper to end the Catamounts minutes without scoring.

Wofford took its first lead, since 4-3 with 16:16 left in the first half, when Maria Corella sank a three-pointer to give the Terriers a 54-53 advantage with 5:56 left. A jumper by Western Carolina freshman forward Sherae Bonner put the Catamounts back on top 55-54.

Wofford would take the lead, and eventually the game, for good when Ashton Fleming hit a lay-up with 4:07 left in the contest. Western Carolina was 0-for-6 from the field in the last four minutes of the game.

After Western Carolina took the lead, 6-4, with 15:29 left in the first half the Catamounts looked like they couldn't miss. Besides being perfect from the charity stripe in the first half, WCU pounded the glass for 21 rebounds and had just six turnovers.

Campbell hit four three-pointers in the first half, just one shy of tying her single-game record, and has 12 points. Fellow senior Justin Taylor had 16 first-half points hitting 5-of-12 from the field and was 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Both players were held to a combined four points, each scoring tw0, in the second half. Taylor ended the game with 18 and Campbell had 14.

Wofford's Jordan Frazier led the Terriers with 17 points while Corella had 14.

Seniors Ali Lane, Campbell and Taylor were honored before the game.

Western Carolina hosts Furman at 7 p.m. Monday in its home series finale.
