Sullivan Scores Pair of Goals in Women's Soccer 3-0 Win Over UNCA

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Redshirt senior Kimberly Sullivan scored a pair of goals as Western Carolina Soccer women's soccer (2-0-1) blanked UNC Asheville (2-1) 3-0 Thursday, at Greenwood Field, to remain undefeated to start the 2015 season.

The Catamounts scored a pair of goals in the first half and tacked on a third goal, with 10 minutes left in the game, to secure the win. Two of Western Carolina's goals, one in each half, were scored off corner kicks.

Kasey Cooke posted the second goal, with under three minutes left in the first half. The Catamount offense was oppressive with 17 shots in the contest.

 

Turning Point
Fifteen minutes into the match, Western Carolina scored off a corner kick to take a 1-0 lead.

Individual Leaders
- Redshirt senior Kimberly Sullivan tied her career-high with two goals in the game.
- Junior goalkeeper Carly Tinstman improves to 2-0 in goal and has two shutouts this season.

Inside the Box Score
- Fifteen minutes into the match, Sayres McKenna sent a corner kick to the right side of the goal and Kelly Pannell headed a pass to Sullivan who kicked the ball in from left center into the net.

- At the 42:08 mark, Cooke scored with an assist by Sayres McKenna.

- Sullivan scored her second goal of the game off a corner kick by Sara Robinson with 10 minutes left in the game.

"Great team effort tonight," said Head Coach Chad Miller. "We worked hard this week to implement some things into our system and I thought the team responded well and performed at a high level tonight. It was great to see Kimberly Sullivan rewarded tonight with the work she put into the match."
