- Keeps WCU winless in Charleston, S.C., dating back to 2010 … It also is WCU’s fifth road loss in the last six meetings at Johnson Hagood Stadium dating back to 2004 (1-4 in last five road contests at The Citadel).

- Sophomore running back Detrez Newsome came up just two yards shy of his career high with 121 rushing yards … He set his career high 123 yards last season against The Citadel … The 121 yards represents the second 100-plus yard performance of his career;
- Redshirt junior wide receiver C.J. Goodman set career highs for both yards and receptions against the Bulldogs … He made seven receptions for 109 yards ... His previous career high for receptions was five against Appalachian State and his previous career high for yards was 46 against Furman, both set in 2013;
- For the second-straight game, redshirt sophomore linebacker Daniel Riddle led the Catamounts in tackles ... He finished with 14 stops against the Bulldogs including one forced fumble … Senior Caleb Hawkins and junior Tyson Dickson each tallied double digit stops with 10 apiece;
- Senior defensive back Jaleel Lorquet registered his first interception since 2012 … It marked the third of his career;
- Junior defensive tackle Fred Mooring notched his first career fumble recovery late in the fourth quarter … Junior defensive back Fred Payne picked up his second career fumble recovery – and first since 2013 – early in the second half;
- Redshirt junior kicker Blake Metcalf sent two kick offs into the end zone for touchbacks to bring his season total to five which already surpasses WCU’s 2014 total of four.

- Western Carolina's team captains for Saturday night's game were junior DB #3 Fred Payne; senior DB #4 Sertonuse Harris; senior QB #10 Troy Mitchell; redshirt sophomore LB #58 Daniel Riddle; and redshirt senior OL #61 Jake Thornton ... The Citadel won the coin toss and choose to defer to the second half … WCU received the opening kickoff;
- Redshirt junior LS #59 Chandler Addertion carried out the American flag while junior DE #57 Avery Worsham carried out the “All You’ve Got” flag during pregame on Saturday.
