CULLOWHEE, N.C. -- Western Carolina women's soccer dropped a 2-0 decision against Campbell Friday at the Catamount Athletic Complex.

The contest was delayed for over an hour due to lightning in the area though only a few raindrops fell on the playing field. Western Carolina and Campbell were set to begin at 7 p.m. but didn't officially start until around 8:10.

Campbell's Ashely Clark scored two first-half goals to put the game out of reach for the Catamounts. WCU outshot Campbell 14 t0 10 but just couldn't find the back of the net.

The Catamounts had quality looks at the goal in the second half. Freshman Sayres McKenna just missed a goal when her shot just pinged off the top of the cross bar in the 64th minute. McKenna's shot came as part of a battery of shots by Western Carolina in the final 45 minutes.
