Women's Basketball Explodes for 106-52 Win over Warren Wilson

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Six players scored in double figures as Western Carolina women's basketball closed out non-conference play with a 106-52 win over Warren Wilson Monday in the Ramsey Center. The Catamount victory halts a six-game losing streak.

The 106 points scored by Western Carolina was the third most points scored in a game in school history.

The Catamounts opened play on a 12-0 run outscoring Warren Wilson 30-10 in the first period and never looked back. Sophomore forward Sherae Bonner scored the first eight points of the game for Western Carolina in route to her second straight double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Warren Wilson was held scoreless for the first four minutes until Danasia Dumas drained the first of eight three pointers the Owls would make in the game. After Dumas' trey Western Carolina built a quick 16-4 lead before the first media timeout.

Western Carolina shot a season-high 50 percent from the field and held Warren Wilson to an anemic 27 percent. The Owls were limited to under 20 points in each of the four periods scoring period lows 10 in the first and 12 in the third.

Besides Bonner's 12 points other Catamount double figure scorers included: Lindsay Simpson (14), Raziyah Farrington (12), Ace Easter (11), Julia Brown (11) and Emily Hatfield (11). Dumnas paced Warren Wilson with a game-leading 17 points.

Turning Point
Western Carolina went on a 12-0 run to start the game and outscored Warren Wilson 30-10 in the first period to set the tone for the contest.

Individual Leaders
- Bonner recorded her second straight double-double, and third of the season, with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
- Simpson led the Catamounts with 14 points tying her season-high.
- Hatfield's 11 points was a career-high.
- Angle Allen dished out a career-high five assists and also had a career-high two blocks.

Inside the Box Score
- Western Carolina shot a season-high 50 percent from the field.
- The Catamounts ripped down a season-high 61 rebounds which also ranks third in the Catamount record books for rebounds in a game.
