JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -Western Carolina was defeated by Southern Conference foe East Tennessee State 7-0 on Friday at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex.
"One doubles pulled off a great win and there were a lot of positives in the singles that we hope to build upon in tomorrow's match," said head coach Michaela Kissell-Eddins.
Seniors Stacia Kissell and Shannon Bettiol continued their hot play at No. 1 doubles getting the win over Lyn Yee Choo and Ana Gerbasi 7-5 but not before ETSU clinched the doubles point at both No. 2 and No. 3 with victories.
It was a tough day for the Catamounts as all six singles were swept with each battling to the end.
"Overall I thought we competed well today. ETSU is a great team and even though they out played us we gave ourselves a lot of chances," stated Kissell-Eddins.
The loss drops WCU to 8-4 overall and 0-2 in Southern Conference play. They next return to the courts at the friendly confines of the Catamount Athletic Complex on Saturday, March 18 at 1 p.m. against SoCon opponent Wofford.
