GREENSBORO, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball fell to UNCG 62-45 Saturday in Fleming Gymnasium.

For the fourth straight game, it was the second period which doomed Western Carolina in a game. The Spartans outscored the Catamounts 21-10 in the second period to set the tone for the rest of the game.

Over the course of the last four games, Western Carolina has been outscored 96-43 in the second period.

Western Carolina cut the Spartan lead to seven, 51-44, with six-plus minutes left in the game, but an 11-1 run to close out the game erased the Catamounts hopes of clawing back. The Catamounts did not have a field goal in the final six minutes of the contest.

The Catamounts did not have a double-figure scorer in the game with Julia Brown and Raziyah Farrington pacing WCU with eight points apiece. It is the first time this season Western Carolina has not had a player score in double figures. Junior forward Sherae Bonner ripped down a game-leading 13 rebounds.

Turning Point
UNCG outscored Western Carolina 21-10 in the second period, and the Catamounts did not score in the final 3:31 of the second, allowing UNCG to build a lead WCU could not overcome.

Individual Leaders
- Bonner led the game with 13 rebounds.
- UNCG's Nadine Soliman led all scorers with 18 points - scoring 11 of her points in the first period.
- Kyia Hough and Tess Harris hit Western Carolina's two three-pointers in the game.
- Bonner and Hough each had four steals.

Inside the Box Score
- Western Carolina had a solid third-period outscoring UNCG 14-9.
- The Catamounts were held to eight points in the fourth period.
- Western Carolina shot only 26.8 percent from the field while UNCG shot at a clip of 41.2 percent.
- For the second straight game, Western Carolina had a strong performance at the free throw line hitting 13-of-18 for 72.2 percent.

News & Notes
- With the 13 rebounds in the game, Bonner has ripped down double figure rebounds in 11 games this season. It is the first double-figure rebounding performance for Bonner in three games.
- Bonner now has 210 rebounds this season just 28 shy of breaking her seasonal high for rebounds, in her career, of 237.
- For her career, Bonner now has 618 rebounds tying her for 12th place for rebounds in the WCU record book. She will need 52 rebounds to take over 11th place.
- The UNCG victory snaps Western Carolina's 11-game winning streak over the Spartans.
- The seven straight losses in Southern Conference play is the most for WCU since the 2010-11 season when the Catamounts closed out the regular season dropping eight straight conference games. - Bonner had a season-high four steals.

Western Carolina returns home Feb. 2 to begin the second time around in Southern Conference play. The Catamounts host Furman at 7 p.m. WCU fell to the Paladins 73-44 in Greenville, S.C. on Jan. 7.
