MACON, GA. – No. 5 seed Western Carolina women's soccer dropped a heartbreaker Sunday falling to No. 4 seed Mercer 1-0 in double overtime in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Championship at Betts Stadium.
Turning Point:
Mercer scored the lone goal in the match in the 108th minute in double overtime.

- Western Carolina outshot the bears with 18 to the Bears 16.
- The Catamounts had a strong chance to be the team walking away with the win at the 103rd minute when WCU had a corner kick and got quality shots by Saneholtz and Mackenzie but both were wide of the goal.
- WCU also had two scoring chances to close out regulation with shots that went wide by Threatt and Julia Winter.
- The Bears, however, were the ones who found the back of the net just before the close of the second overtime. At the 108th minute, Fordham took a pass from Abigail Zoeller for the Mercer goal.
News & Notes
- The Catamounts' 11 wins this season is the most under Head Coach Chad Miller. The 11 wins are also the most for a Western Carolina club since the 2008 team ended the year with 13 victories.
- The Southern Conference will release the All-Conference and All-Freshman team on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
