Catamounts Host Piedmont College in Nonconference Finale

Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina men's basketball welcomes Piedmont College to the Ramsey Center on Saturday for the final nonconference matchup of the 2019-20 season. Tip-off between the Lions and Catamounts is set for Noon.

Saturday's game will be streamed on the SoCon Digital Network. The Catamount Sports Network provides audio coverage on 90.5 FM, WWCU, 105.7-FM/540-AM WRGC in Sylva, as well as online at catamountsports.com.

Western Carolina is 8-3 after an 89-76 win at Tennessee Tech on Dec. 21. Mason Faulkner finished three assists shy of a triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. Kameron Gibson (16 points), Matt Halvorsen (15 points),and Carlos Dotson (11 points) each finished in double figures. Halvorsen made five 3-pointers in the contest, moving him into ninth place on WCU's all-time made 3-point field goals list.

Piedmont College is 6-4 on the season after a 92-87 loss at Pfeiffer on Dec. 18. Jordan Foote is the leading scorer with 15.3 points per game and is joined in double figures by Miles Riley with 12.3 points per game, Justin Quick with 11.3 points per game and Orry Clements-Owens with 10.6 points per game. The game against WCU will count as an exhibition for the Lions and is their second of the season against an NCAA Division I opponent, the first coming as part of a 129-83 setback at The Citadel on Dec. 10.

The Catamounts lead the all-time series against Piedmont 37-5 but have not faced the Lions since a 94-43 win in the Ramsey Center on Feb. 2, 2004.

WCU resumes Southern Conference play on Jan. 4, traveling to The Citadel for a 1 p.m. contest.
