Catamounts Host Chattanooga to Open SoCon Play

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball opens Southern Conference play at home at 7 p.m. Thursday hosting Chattanooga in the Ramsey Center. The game can be seen on ESPN3. 
 
AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and Chattanooga meet for the 89th time on Thursday dating back to 1979. The Mocs hold a 77-11 lead overall against the Catamounts. Chattanooga has beaten WCU in the last 20 meetings. The last victory for the Catamounts came 10 years ago, on Feb. 22, 2010, in Cullowhee when WCU came away with a 51-49 win. 
  • Senior Farasia Hodge came off the bench, in the win over Southern Wesleyan, scoring her new career-high of 17 points and connecting on a career-best seven field goals. She also ripped down a season-best eight rebounds.
  • WCU's win over Southern Wesleyan Jan. 6 halted a four-game losing streak.
  • The Catamounts' 70 points against Southern Wesleyan was a season-high for the team. Western Carolina has scored 60 or more points in six of the last seven games. In that seven-game stretch, WCU is averaging 63.1 points per game. 
  • Western Carolina has scored 60 or more points in six of the last seven games and a total of nine games on the year. In 30 games in the 2018-19 season, the Catamounts scored 60 or more points in nine contests. 
  • The Catamounts game against Chattanooga is the second of three games in six days. 
  • Western Carolina is 10-27 in opening conference games. The last season-opening conference win for the Catamounts was Nov. 26, 2013, with a 71-63 victory over former SoCon member Appalachian State. 
 
AN INSIDE LOOK AT CHATTANOOGA:
  • Chattanooga is on an 11-game losing streak. The Mocs are 1-13 on the year after a non-conference slate that featured two Top-10 teams in Louisville and North Carolina State.
  • Lakelyn Bouldin leads the Mocs with 12.1 points per game. She is the only Mocs player averaging double figures. 
  • Chattanooga has not scored 60 or more points in a game since posting 65 in the loss at EKU on Dec. 1, 2019.
